I had practiced Hatha Yoga on and off for some years, but I really enjoy the challenge of Sophie’s Ashtanga class which has helped me to develop my practice, maintain suppleness and improve my fitness. Sophie is a really good teacher as she ensures a friendly and fun class atmosphere, and also offers discreet individual advice and encouragement to ensure everyone reaches their potential, including advice on adapting any poses if necessary for the individual. I discovered yoga two years ago as a carefree university student.
Now, working flat out as a newspaper journalist, the practice is crucial in helping me maintain a healthy body and mind while taking time out to enjoy a work-life balance.
Progressing through the Ashtanga Vinyasa series I have grown in strength, stamina, flexibility and agility while improving balance and posture.
Many poses require superior upper body and core strength meaning my arms and abs are well toned and it’s a workout to rival any gym regime.
Each session works all the major muscles and focusing deeply on breathing and movement enables me to forget daily stresses, strains and worries to enhance happiness and wellbeing.
Sophie’s teaching has inspired me to a deeper dedication to daily practice [well, sometimes!!!!!!] and I always look forward to her classes.
She welcomes people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds from postmen to pole dancers and nurtures a warm and friendly atmosphere while encouraging students to reach their full potential.
She is intimately aware of each student’s strengths and weaknesses and works with people to build their self-confidence and technique.
Her self-practice sessions and weekend workshops allow students to explore more about yoga’s spiritual and traditional history and adopt independent and self-driven learning.
