Pregnancy Yoga
I also run pregnancy yoga classes in Caversham. The classes will run as an 6 week course and will be suitable for complete beginners and those with an existing yoga practice. In these classes we will be creating a space for expectant mothers to connect with their baby, their bodies and each other.
The physical Asana practice will help to build the strength, essential for labour and motherhood. The breathing techniques we practice will allow mothers to really connect body, mind and breath. Both in and out of class. Relaxation is an important part of pregnancy yoga classes allowing you the space to nurture yourself and connect with your baby at this magical time. Pregnancy yoga may only commence after the first trimester. My pregnancy classes are fairly dynamic but do allow time for relaxation too.
The yoga classes are one of the things I really look forward to in the week. Generally they help me to relax and really ease up any stiffness I might have developed during the week. It also feels pretty empowering to do some of the stuff when usually everyone wants you to sit down and do nothing – even if I might huff and puff a bit while doing it.The breathing techniques have been especially good – I use these all the time. To begin with I didn’t like downward dogs but now I enjoy the stretch of them. I like learning what the stretches and movements are good for, it gives them purpose.
I’d love to carry on with yoga once I’ve had the baby.
