Yoga everywhere for everyone
MAKE YOUR BACKBEND FEEL BEAUTIFUL
WITH MELANIE COOPER
SATURDAY 8TH APRIL 2017
Learn how to make a backbend comfortable and safe
for different body-types.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
10:30 – 5:00pm
In this workshop, we will explore the anatomy of back bends and take a closer look at our shoulders so we can better understand what we are actually doing in our physical yoga practice. We will explore our bones, the main muscle groups and each major joint in the body, whilst keeping it simple and relevant to our yoga practice.
The approach will be very practical and hands on. You will learn how to make these poses right for different body-types as well as what might be your own physical challenges and how to work with your body in an intelligent safe way.
Who is it suitable for?
This workshop will be informative and practically suitable for teachers and inquisitive practitioners!
Mel has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga for 23 years (time flies) and running yoga teacher trainings for ten years. She assisted her teacher Hamish Hendry for 7 years before running her own Mysore self-practice in Goa and in London. She is also the author of ‘Teaching Yoga Adjusting Asana’. For her one of the most interesting and exciting aspects of teaching is understanding Anatomy and hands-on adjustments. Melanie went from finding anatomy scary and boring to becoming a full on anatomy geek. She loves to make anatomy interesting, accessible and relevant to a yoga asana practice.
She currently divides her time between London, Bristol, Thailand, Crete and Goa, practicing and teaching yoga and sometimes dancing on the beach.
