You’ve worked hard. You have years of practice behind you, working through your shit, finding your power and baby, you are looking mighty fine!
It feels like after years of personal development, as the possibility of perimenopause dawns, you start to lose your compass and the certainties you’ve come to reply on: your passions, direction, relationships, your inner rhythms start to go weird. Sometimes very weird.
Perimenopause IS an inside job, the weirdness is the pull and shift of your psyche transforming into a different shape. The ‘outside’ part is the fear and judgment that hangs around perimenopause like a bad smell, and by becoming conscious of the psychological aspect, we are changing that part, bit by bit.
Please be reassured, you are not losing the plot, not at all.
This is the beginning of the transformational healing that is the menopause process. As it’s an initiation, it means that we are led into the forest to get properly lost so that we can then re-find and birth ourselves into the Second Spring of postmenopause. In other words, if you feel like you’ve lost it, then you’re on the right track.
This is challenging stuff, but you’ll be glad to hear that there is a map to help you through the unknown territory. In this workshop we’ll look at the ‘inside job’, the psychological process of entering perimenopause and how you can navigate this tricky place and access its healing potential.
You’ll find out:
- How to tell if you’re in perimenopause
- The psychological landscape of menopause
- What to build into your unique self-care plan
- The gifts available to you in menopause, yes gifts!
- An embodied sense of hope and trust in the process
- How there’s a whole new, vibrant cycle that happens after menopause
- That your experience is valid and useful
Who is this for?
This workshop is designed for people with some menstrual cycle awareness who are thinking about, or experiencing perimenopause and are curious about navigating their passage with a conscious, healing perspective. It is an inclusive workshop and we want all people whatever your race, ethnicity and background to feel welcome. Aware that menopause does is not only experienced by cis women, there’s a warm welcome for nonbinary, trans, gender fluid and other menopausers too. If you’re not sure if this workshop would be helpful for you, please feel free to have a chat with Kate.
The shame around perimenopause keeps us isolated and fearful. By coming together in a safe group to navigate the forest and share our experiences, we come to find that despite our differences, there is an enormous strength to be found in connecting with others in the same process. Kate’s kept it to a small group so that there will be enough space to reflect on, and digest the experience. We’ll use the magic of the Medicine Circle, a special guided visualisation, to get an embodied sense of where you are, the self-care you need to apply and a sense of what is to come. The Medicine Circle was created by Red School and Kate has been privileged to witness the healing and magic they bring. To create a cosy space, the workshop is a live only event and will not be recorded.
Kate is a UK-based menstrual and menopause mentor in her Second Spring, a writer and facilitator and has been a therapist for more than 25 years. Trained first in Body Psychotherapy, Biodynamic therapy with Gerda Boyesen, Pregnancy and Abdominal massage, more recently she has trained in Womb Yoga and Yoga Nidra with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, and in Menstruality with Red School. Kate was the first person in the world to graduate as a Medicine Circle facilitator and is one of the most experienced practitioners of the method. Now, in partnership with Leora Leboff she runs Woman Kind retreats, facilitating virtual and real-life retreats for groups of menstruating and menopausal women and therapists to build more kindness into their lives. She is currently working on her first book.
Her mission is to change the way we regard menopause and show how we can relax into our own, inner authority through our cyclical nature and menopause process.
