Beginner’s Courses

Beginners Courses

We are passionate about our beginners’ courses. We have been teaching them for over 8 years. These courses are tried and tested and we are always adding to them to ensure we offer the best information and learning possible.

We will cover

  • Breath work – calming the mind and nervous system
  • Postures – flexibility, mobility. We share different styles of Yoga so that you are able to join any class on our schedule.
  • Strength – how to build a sustainable practice
  • Moving meditation – on breath and postures to help us feel fully absorbed and forget about our worries.

Learn in person at our lovely studio: Limited to 12 people to ensure you get all the attention you need to start your Yoga journey in the best way.

LEVEL 1

Foundations. Learn the basics of an enjoyable and sustainable yoga practice.
You will receive:

  • 6 classes with your peers taught by an experienced teacher (more than 5 years’ experience)
  • Weekly emails with practice and technique videos
  • Focus on standing postures and breathing techniques.

Each week we will cover:

Foundational poses: Sun Salutations, Standing Poses including side bends, rotations and forward folds. Balances, backbends and options for mild inversions (where appropriate).

Advice and technical coaching on how to avoid injuries.

Modifications and postural adjustments to suit your body.

Experience of the different styles of Yoga that we offer on our weekly schedule

Advice on how to build a sustainable and regular practice to meet your goals whether it’s flexibility, stress management, health or balancing out your other weekly activities.

LEVEL 2

Refine your practice. Now that you have the basics start to build on your understanding and practice to add some additional postures and refine what you’ve learnt in level 1.

In addition we will layer on some elements of the history and philosophy of Yoga giving you a much broader understanding of the practice.

Week 3: Concept of Dhristi + 8 Fold Path

Week 4: Concept of Dharana + Aum – other ways to find focus

Week 5: Concept of Santosha and benefits of yoga to our vestibular system

Week 6: Hatha Yoga Pradipika: Other offerings for our health from Yoga to explore

Pregnancy Yoga Course

We offer a rolling 6-week Pregnancy Yoga Course. This allows us to provide you with consistent and high quality support. You can join from 12 weeks and can continue to book in 6-week blocks. You also gain access to our Pregnancy Yoga video library with additional practices you can do at home.

The aim of these classes is to create a space for mums-to-be to breathe, move and connect with their babies. Empowering women to take care of their health and wellbeing during pregnancy, prepare for labour and learn tools they can use to support themselves in postpartum. All in a friendly welcoming environment where you can meet others going through this stage of life too.

Over the course you will explore:

  • Ways of moving to support, strengthen and balance the changing body.
  • practices to balance and nurture yourself through challenges such as tiredness, nausea, vomiting, aches, pains, and a whole host of other unexpected things!
  • Ways to soothe shoulders, neck, hips and back.
  • Movements to help optimise your baby’s position for birth.
  • Tools and techniques to help progress and manage your labour.
  • Pelvic floor health.
  • Breathing techniques to reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Relaxation practices to unwind and replenish energy.
  • Practices to connect with your baby.

As part of the course, you will also have access to a video library with practices and tutorials.

About Jo Harris our Pregnancy Yoga teacher

Jo has been a yoga teacher since 2014 guiding students in Vinyasa Flow, Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga, Baby yoga and massage, Yoga Nidra and Restorative Yoga. Jo has also trained as a Doula, offering practical, emotional, informational support to parents going through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

This training coupled with years of teaching pregnancy and mother and baby yoga and becoming a parent too, provides Jo with a great understanding of the physical and emotional process of becoming a mother. A process also known as matrescence. Jo aims to provide a space for women to feel empowered to explore the possibilities of moving their body, prepare for labour, recover from pregnancy and birth and bond with their baby. Classes are supportive, bringing together a community of women to share in their experiences of pregnancy and motherhood.

MUM AND BABY CLASSES

SUITABLE FROM 6 WEEKS POST-PARTUM UNTIL YOUR BABY IS CRAWLING

These classes are a friendly nurturing space to come and move, breathe, meet other mums and bond with your baby. Having a baby is a huge life change and the body and mind has been through a lot. Join us to support your postpartum recovery, build strength, soothe aches and pains and connect with your baby. We want to help you feel good about yourself and more confident in your body and yourself as a mum.

Within these classes you will:

  • Gently strengthen the body from the inside out, with particular attention to the pelvic floor, posture, back and core strength.
  • Learn baby yoga stretches to comfort, bond and support your baby’s development.
  • Use songs, sounds and rhythms to engage your baby.
  • Enjoy time to be at ease and relaxed in a baby friendly environment.
  • Meet other mums and their babies.
  • Learn tools to destress and regulate your nervous system through those challenging moments of parenting.

At any time during the class, you are welcome to feed, change your baby and do anything you need to as a mum. These classes will be 45 minutes of practice followed by a replenishing herbal tea and snack.

Are you looking for a unique and empowering Yoga practice?

Ashtanga yoga will transform your strength and flexibility as well as give you a new relationship with your mind and body.

It is a dynamic practice which we learn to soften into. Yes it pushes us but it also gives us SO much in return.

Start your Ashtanga journey with us so that you can confidently join either the Led or Self Practice style of class.

This workshop will provide you with the:

  1. History and purpose of the practice
  2. Postures
  3. Breathing
  4. How to confidently continue your practice.

Our Ashtanga Teaching team are super encouraging and supportive and love to share their passion for the Ashtanga practice with all interested students.
